New Delhi: The national capital Delhi and its surrounding area received heavy rainfall on the intervening night of Tuesday – Wednesday. On the one hand, where people got relief from the heat, on the other hand, the streets of Delhi were filled to the brim. Water was flooded in many areas and people are facing problems. There was rain in many areas of Delhi on Wednesday morning as well. The Meteorological Department estimates that there may be heavy rainfall in Delhi and the surrounding area within the next two days. Due to heavy rains in Delhi, the visibility on the road was reduced and the road started getting jammed.

Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rains may continue over most places of Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Rohtak, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Palwal, Panipat and Karnal during the next 2 hours.

Heavy rains expected in many parts of Gujarat, red alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert on Wednesday, revealing heavy rainfall forecast till August 16 in various regions of South Gujarat and Saurashtra. He has also predicted light to moderate rainfall in most areas of the state during this period.

Meanwhile, according to officials, many parts of south and central parts of Gujarat received heavy rainfall on Wednesday. The Ahmedabad center of the department has issued a red alert for Navsari and Valsad in South Gujarat, Dwarka and Jamnagar and Daman in Saurashtra and for the union territory of Dadar and Nagar Haveli.

According to the department, the Red Alert indicates that heavy rains can cause major damage to raw houses and roads, waterlogging in the underpass, and reduced visibility, resulting in the risk of road accidents.

The department said, “Due to the formation of low pressure area on and around the Bay of North West Bengal on Thursday, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Gujarat for the next five days.” He said that till August 16, light to moderate at most places in Gujarat, maximum and very high rainfall may occur at isolated places and very heavy rainfall at isolated places in South Gujarat and Saurashtra. Panchmahal, Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Chhota Udaipur and Narmada districts received heavy rainfall on Wednesday.

Heavy rain forecast in parts of Mumbai, neighboring districts
The IMD has forecast heavy rains in some areas of Mumbai and heavy showers in neighboring districts in the next 24 hours. An IMD official has issued a ‘Brown Alert’ in Raigad, Nashik and Pune with forecast of very heavy rains. The official said that there may be heavy rains in some areas of Mumbai in the next 24 hours and there will be strong showers in Thane, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts.

IMD Mumbai Deputy Director General K.K. s. Hosalikar tweeted, “Mumbai, western suburbs, Thane and parts of Navi Mumbai received 60 mm of rain in the last six hours till 2.30 pm.” Intermittent rains are expected in some parts.
