A total of 32 teams including the current champion France are participating in this prestigious FIFA tournament. The opening match will be played between the hosts Qatar and Ecuador. Four teams have been divided into 8 groups. A total of 64 matches including 48 league matches will be played in 29 days. The 16 best-performing teams at the league level will qualify for the knockouts. The knockout matches will be played from December 3. The final match will be played on 18 December.
