New Delhi: Dr. V Ananth Nageswaran has been appointed as the Chief Economic Advisor for the Union Finance Ministry. The government has made this announcement before the presentation of the Union Budget and the Economic Survey. Let us tell you that on February 1, Finance Minister Sitharaman will present the general budget in Parliament.
Let us inform you that, KV Subramaniam resigned on 17 December 2021 after three years in this post. After which Nageswaran has been appointed in his place. Nageshwaram has previously been a member of the Economic Advisory Council (EAC) of the PM.
It is noteworthy that, the Chief Economic Advisor gives suggestions to the government on issues like finance, commerce, trade, economy. They have to report to the Ministry of Finance. At the same time, the responsibility of the Economic Division under the Department of Economic Affairs is with the Economic Adviser.
The Economic Division under the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) monitors the economic trends at the domestic and international levels and informs the government. Dr. V Ananth Nageswaran has been the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and Distinguished Visiting Professor of Economics at the University of Crena. He has also been a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of the country from the year 2019 to 2021. Nageswaran holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the IIM Institute, Ahmedabad, and a doctoral degree on the subject from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
