
New Delhi: After the expansion of the cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first meeting of the new cabinet was held on Thursday. In this meeting held through video conferencing at 5 pm, many big decisions were taken regarding the health sector including farmers. Giving information about this, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “Modi government wants to further strengthen the mandis. That is why the government has taken an important decision, under which one lakh crore rupees will be given to the farmers through the mandi.
One lakh crore to APMC
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said, “Earlier it was said that APMC will be strengthened. Efforts will be made to make more resources available to APMC. Rs 1 lakh crore allocated to Kisan Infrastructure Fund under Atmanirbhar Bharat can be utilized by APMCs.”
He said, “APMC will not be abolished. After the implementation of agricultural laws, APMCs will receive crores of rupees from the Centre’s infrastructure fund, which will strengthen them and be useful to more farmers.”
Amendment in Coconut Board Act
Tomar said, “Coconut is cultivated in a large area in our country. We are going to amend the Coconut Board Act in 1981 to increase its production and provide convenience to the farmers. The Chairman of the Coconut Board will be a non-government person. He will be from the farming community, who know and understand the work of the farm.”

Government ready to talk
The Agriculture Minister has once again appealed to the farmers’ organizations agitating against the agricultural laws to hold talks. He said, “I want to appeal to the protesting farmer’s unions to end their protest and hold a discussion. The government is ready for discussion. APMC will be strengthened.
Narendra Singh Tomar said, “Today we have also decided that if a person does more than one project (the maximum limit is 25 and this project will have to be done at different places), then up to Rs 2 crore separately on each project. Interest exemption and guarantee will be eligible.
