Mogadishu: At least five people were killed and several others were injured in Saturday’s Explosion in two cities of Somalia. Police said that a suicide attacker blew himself up in Baidoa city, killing at least four people and injuring six others.
Officials said the attacker was targeting Ali Vardhere, the governor of Bay Province, outside the Suez cafeteria. There is no damage to the governor in the blast. According to the news of the government news agency, SONA, the injured included two bodyguards (policemen) of the governor. Al-Shabab, a group associated with al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack by posting a report on its website.
Meanwhile, a soldier was killed and a passer-by was injured in another blast in Mogadishu’s Huriwa district, police said. It is not known yet whether the blasts in the two cities are related to each other. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack in Mogadishu.
