Sanjay Gadhvi Dies of Heart Attack

Mumbai: Sanjay Gadhvi, the Bollywood director who helmed the blockbuster ‘Dhoom’ franchise, passed away on Sunday morning after suffering a heart attack. He was 57 years old.

According to sources, Gadhvi was taking a morning walk in Lokhandwala Backroad in Mumbai when he complained of chest pain and sweating. He was rushed to the nearby Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His mortal remains are currently kept at the hospital and his last rites are expected to be performed on Sunday evening. Gadhvi is survived by his wife and two children.

Gadhvi’s sudden demise has sent shockwaves across the film industry and his fans, who have expressed their condolences and grief on social media. Gadhvi was known for his action-packed and stylish films, such as ‘Dhoom’ (2004) and ‘Dhoom 2’ (2006), which starred Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu. He also directed other films like ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ (2002), ‘Tere Liye’ (2001), ‘Kidnap’ (2008), ‘Ajab Gazabb Love’ (2012) and ‘Operation Parindey’ (2020).

Gadhvi was also working on a new film based on the dispute between Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah Mosque in Mathura. The film, titled ‘Krishna’, reportedly started shooting in October of this year and was slated to release in 2024. The film featured actors like Rajkummar Rao, Kriti Sanon, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Pankaj Tripathi. It is not clear how Gadhvi’s death will affect the fate of the film.
