Washington: In a shocking move, the board of OpenAI, a leading company in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), has fired its CEO Sam Altman, who was hailed as a visionary and a pioneer in the AI industry. Altman, who launched the groundbreaking ChatGPT, an AI chatbot with unparalleled abilities to generate content such as poems or artwork, in 2022, was accused of being dishonest and untrustworthy by the board.

Altman, 38, had become a global sensation and a star of Silicon Valley after the launch of ChatGPT, which quickly gained popularity and recognition around the world. Altman was traveling the world to meet with world leaders and political figures, and to give talks on the potential and the perils of AI. He had recently met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had praised his work and expressed his concerns about the challenges posed by AI and ‘Deep Fake’ technologies.

However, Altman’s meteoric rise came to an abrupt end on Friday, when the board of OpenAI announced his dismissal after “a thoughtful review process.” The board said in a statement that Altman had failed to be transparent and honest in his communications with the board and that they had lost confidence in his ability to lead the company.

Altman, who joined OpenAI in 2019, said in a post on X that he had enjoyed his time at the company and that he hoped that his work had made a positive impact on the world. He said that he would reveal his future plans later.
