Mumbai: Loss has been observed in every sphere of life due to corona. Bollywood is not untouched by this either. Lockdown caused by Corona and closure of cinemas has caused great damage to the industry. A report says the loss for the entire year could be as high as Rs 3,500 crore.

Only two films will be released
The cinemas which were closed in the lockdown were allowed to reopen from October 15. However, theaters were not opened in many states even during this period. The ban on 50 percent audience capacity had a significant impact on the business. Only two names have emerged in the new films to be released in cinemas this year. Among them, Ranveer Singh’s ’83’ (83 Movie) is ready to launch on Christmas and Manoj Bajpai’s ‘Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari’ on November 13. Apart from these, no new movie has been announced.

The loss of crores was revealed in the first half of the industry which was completed during the lockdown. A report by Koimoi says that by the end of this year, Bollywood’s loss will be Rs 3,500 crore. There are other reasons behind this, including not releasing movies.

In the first three months of this year, only a few films came out that attracted the audience. Among these, ‘Tanhaji’, ‘Baagi 3’, Street Dancer 3D, ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Sawdhan’ and Malang were able to do good business. Poorly performing films include ‘Thappar’, ‘Chhapak’, ‘Bhoot-The Haunted Sheep’, ‘Jawani Jaaneman’.

There were a few selected films this year than expected good business. These include ‘Suryavanshi’, ‘Radhe’, ‘Lal Singh Chadha’, ‘Satyemav Jayate 2’, and ‘Brahasatra’. However, due to Corona, the release of these films was postponed for 2021. Some other films including ‘Lakshmi Bum’, ‘Bhuj’, and ‘Coolie No. 1’ are to be released on OTT. This is bound to increase the losses of the industry.
