Washington: The US has relaxed the requirement for many visa applicants, including students and workers, to appear in person for interviews at its embassies in India till December 31 this year. A senior US diplomat gave this information to the leaders of the Indian community. Applicants who are exempt include students (F, M, and academic J visas), workers (H-1, H-2, H-3, and individual L visas), culture, and people of exceptional ability (O, P, and Q Visa).
The South Asian community leader and US President Joe Biden’s advisor to Asian Americans Ajay Jain Bhutoria said after meeting with South Central Asia Assistant Secretary of State Donal Lu that visa applicants were in great need of this support. It will be very helpful for our friends and close relatives and many of their worries and inconveniences will be removed.
More than 20 thousand appointments issued
