Action by Election Commission, West Bengal DGP removed

Kolkata: Big action has been taken on Tuesday in view of the West Bengal Assembly Election. The commission has transferred the state’s DGP (Virendra). P. Niranjarayan (P.Nirajnayan) has been appointed as the new DGP of Bengal in his place.

While issuing the directives, the commission said, “The preparations for the election have been reviewed by the Central Election Commission.” After which Virendra, the current DGP of 1985, has been transferred. Along with him, 1990 batch officer P. Niranjanarayan has been appointed as the new DGP.

The commission said, “As long as there is an election, Mr. Virendra has not been given any kind of post either directly or indirectly. This order of the Commission has come into force immediately. Information about the observance of the order should be given to the commission by 10 o’clock tomorrow morning.
