London: A gold-plated spectacle was auctioned by a UK auction house for 2,60,000 pounds (about twenty-five million rupees), which is believed to be Mahatma Gandhi and they gave it to someone. The specs were expected to fetch between 10,000 and 15,000 pounds, but the bidding at online auctions increased and eventually halted at six digits.

East Bristol Auctions auctioneer Andy Stow concluded the bidding process on Friday, saying, “Incredible price for unbelievable things!” Thank you to all who bid. ” He said, “These glasses not only created an auction record for us but they are also historically important. The seller said that this item is interesting but it has no value and if it is not worth selling, then dispose it. ”

Stowe said, “I think seeing the price of the auction would not have surprised him.” It was an amazing auction. Something we imagine. ” The new anonymous owner of the glasses is an elder from Mangotsfield, South Gloucestershire, southwest England who will pay £ 2,60,000 with his daughter.

The glasses were in the seller’s family long back. His father told him that one of his relatives had received the gift when he worked in British Petroleum between 1910 and 1930 in South Africa. Regarding the authenticity of the eyeglasses, Stowe said, “The story the seller told seems to be exactly what his father told him 50 years ago.” It is believed that Gandhiji had these glasses in his early years in South Africa.
