Six killed in Pakistan’s Balochistan province in firing by Afghan border forces

Islamabad: At least six Pakistani civilians were killed and 17 others were injured in firing by Afghan forces near the border in the Chaman district of Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Sunday. The army gave this information. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media arm, the firing by the Afghan forces used heavy weapons, including artillery shells and mortars.

The statement said that six Pakistani civilians were killed and 17 others were injured in the firing. The injured have been shifted to a local hospital and police have cordoned off the area, Samaa TV reported.

The statement said that Pakistan’s border forces retaliated. Taking note of the seriousness of the situation, the Government of Pakistan has contacted the Afghan authorities in Kabul and sought strict action to avoid the recurrence of such incidents in the future. The reason for the firing was not immediately clear. There is also no information about the losses suffered by the Afghan side.
