Washington: Coronavirus continues to wreak havoc in most countries around the world including America, India. The US Health Agency Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has done three major types of research on the booster dose of corona vaccines. It has been found in these that booster doses of Pfizer and Moderna companies are up to 90% effective against the new variant Omicron. In such a situation, the question is arising all over the world whether it is still correct to call those who take two doses of vaccine fully vaccinated?

What do all three CDC research say?
Data of lakhs of Covid positive patients have been studied in all three research. These include people who were taken to the hospital in an emergency. Also, all three research says that only people who do not get the vaccine are getting seriously ill due to corona.

According to CDC’s first research, 90% of corona cases did not cause the patient to go to the hospital due to the booster doses administered in December and January. It was during these months that Omicron gained momentum in America. At present, 99% of corona cases in America are from Omicron. In this research, 88,000 Covid hospitalization cases were seen in 10 states of the country. Scientists found that the second dose of the vaccine is only 57% effective after 6 months.

The results of other research also say that the booster dose is effective against Omicron. According to scientists, 149 out of 1 lakh people got Omicron infection after the booster dose. At the same time, after taking only two doses, 255 out of 1 lakh got an infection of this variant.

In the third research, it has been told that the booster dose has saved the patients of Omicron from getting sick. CDC scientists investigated 13,000 Omicron cases in the US. It was found that patients who received a booster dose had a 66% lower risk of developing symptoms of Omicron compared to those who received two doses.

Why are questions being raised on the definition of ‘fully vaccinated?
CDC’s vaccine advisor Dr. William Schaffner says that we need to count three doses in the definition of ‘fully vaccinated’. The reason for this is that in fact, due to the changing form of the virus, only the third dose of the vaccine is saving us. At present, the US is not ready to take any such decision, but the Canadian Health Agency can review the word ‘fully vaccinated’.
