New Delhi: Poland’s 21-year-old player Inga Swiatek has won the title of the US Open 2022. In the final, world number one Sviatake defeated Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabur 6-2, 7-6 in straight sets. This is Sviatake’s third career Grand Slam title. Sviatec has won the French Open twice before the US Open. The 28-year-old Jabur, seeded 5th, was the first African player to reach the final of the US Open in the professional era that began in 1968. After Wimbledon, she also missed out on winning the US Open title.
