New Delhi: There has been a decline in the speed of corona infection but still the risk of corona infection is not averted. The fear of a possible third wave of corona in the country still remains. In the ongoing fight against this coronavirus, India got another weapon on Friday. The country has now got the vaccine for children above 12 years of age. The Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI) has approved a three-dose vaccine of Zydus Cadila for emergency use. It is a DNA vaccine. Now India has some six corona vaccines.

Trial on 28000 thousand people
The company said that its strategy is to make 100 million to 120 million doses of the vaccine annually and has already started taking stock of the vaccine (Zydus Cadila Three Dose Vaccine). Zydus Cadila tested its three-dose vaccine on more than 28000 volunteers across the country. During the trial, the vaccine was found to be 66.6 percent effective against the virus. The vaccine has been developed by Zydus in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology.

Biggest test ever
Before the Zydus Cadila vaccine, Serum Institute’s Covishield, Bharat Biotech’s Covaccine, Russia’s Sputnik V, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine were being used in the country. The Ahmedabad-based pharma company had applied for emergency use on July 1. According to a release, Zydus Cadila had tested the vaccine on more than 28000 thousand people, which is the largest vaccine trial in India so far.

The world’s first three-dose vaccine
Zydus Cadila’s ZyCoV-D corona vaccine has undergone a three-phase trial in India. This vaccine of Zydus is the world’s first vaccine that is DNA-based. Before this, all the vaccines around the world were either a single dose or double dose, this will be the first vaccine which is three doses.
