‘We have only one demand…’ said wrestler Sakshi Malik who has not backed down from the protest

New Delhi: Wrestler Sakshi Malik said that there was a ‘normal conversation’ in the meeting of wrestlers with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. During this, he demanded that the former head of the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh should be arrested.

Sakshi Malik clarified that she has not backed down from the protest, she has just resumed her work as OSD in the Railways. Along with Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have also resumed their duties in the Railways.

Sakshi said that ‘we met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, it was a normal conversation, we have only one demand and that is that he (Brij Bhushan Singh) should be arrested. I have not backed down from protest. I have resumed my work as OSD in Railways. I want to make it clear that we will continue to protest until we get justice. We will not back down. She (the minor girl) has not withdrawn any FIR, such things are fake.

Olympian wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat were among those who protested against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh accusing him of sexual harassment against several wrestlers, including a minor. An NDTV report states that Amit Shah assured the wrestlers that the law is equal for all. According to the report, the Union Home Minister told the wrestlers, ‘Let the law take its course’.

Demanded fair investigation and quick action
The meeting reportedly started at 11 pm and went on for over an hour. According to the information received, during this time Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Sangeeta Phogat, and Satyavrat Kadian demanded a fair investigation and quick action against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The wrestlers were protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar until 28 May, when the Delhi Police cleared the agitation site after stopping them from marching towards the new parliament building as the new parliament building was being inaugurated.
