New Delhi: The opportunity to work from home during the Corona period made the employees happy. They enjoyed it so much that they are now refusing to work in the office. They prefer to work from home only. But, the e-commerce company Amazon’s policy change has upset the employees. The company has told its employees that they have to work in the office for at least 3 days a week. The employees are not satisfied with this. Some employees have even quit the company in protest.

Amazon made its demand in 2023
In 2023 itself, Amazon clarified that it would be compulsory to have a presence in the office for at least 3 days a week. The company enforced this rule in May with the expectation of business growth. However, this change did not go down well with the Amazon employees. In May 2023, nearly 2,000 employees of the company also demonstrated against the order to return to the office. Now that the company is calling the employees back to the office, the employees are quitting.

Relocate to ‘Central Hub’ or resign
According to CNBC’s report, a few days ago, the employees received an email that they were not fulfilling the expectation of working with their colleagues in the office as they were not coming to the office for at least 3 days a week. Now the company has asked some employees to relocate to a ‘Central Hub’ to work with their team.

The e-commerce company gave the employees three options: relocate, apply for another position, or resign. Many employees chose to resign from the office. The report said that Amazon has asked its employees to move to one of the central hubs (New York City, Seattle, Austin, Texas, and Arlington) by the first quarter of 2024. A company spokesperson said that only a small portion of the company’s workforce would be affected by the relocation mandate.
