Dubai: In Saudi Arabia, a man drove a car at high-speed late Friday night and hit the outer gate of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and Medina. The country’s official news agency gave this information. The Saudi Press Agency reported that the incident took place around 10.30 pm on Friday night.

A driver rammed his car into Door 89 of the Grand Mosque in Mecca (Masjid al-Haram) at 22:25 pm Saudi time.

The driver was arrested and based on video footage posted on social media, local media reports, there were no casualties.

The man hit the blockers before his car, even after that he kept driving the vehicle, and then he hit the gate located in the south of the big mosque. Authorities arrested the man in the car and said his condition appeared “unusual”. The video of the incident also went viral on social media in which security forces can be seen removing the damaged car from the spot. The mosque, which was closed due to the coronavirus epidemic, was recently reopened.
