Kolkata: India’s rising female shooter Konika Layak has committed suicide. Everyone is shocked to hear this news. She was a resident of Dhanbad city of Jharkhand. But, at present, she was staying in a hostel in Kolkata. According to the information, Konika hanged herself in the hostel itself. Let us tell you that in the last four months, Konika is the fourth such shooter who has committed suicide.
Four shooters committed suicide in the last four months
Recently, 17-year-old shooter Khush Seerat Kaur from Punjab also committed suicide. She shot himself with his pistol. Before him, Hunardeep Singh Sohal of Punjab in October and Namanveer Singh Brar of Mohali also committed suicide in September. Now Konika has also taken such a step. Konika had won four gold and silver medals at the Jharkhand state level. She was also the state champion in the 10m air rifle category.
Sonu Sood had given rifle
She also came into the limelight in the same period, when she sought help from actor Sonu Sood for a rifle and Sonu Sood also got her a rifle. Earlier, she used to practice only through the rifle of her coach Rajendra Singh and friends. Konika had asked for a rifle because she was selected for the national team, but she did not have a rifle of her own. Due to which she could not take part in the tournament. She, therefore, sought help from Sonu Sood, and then Sonu gave him a German rifle worth Rs 2.70 lakh on March 24. After which, Konika also thanked him by tweeting.
Was about to get married
Konika was training at the academy of veteran shooter Jaideep Karmakar in Kolkata. According to the information, she was not even going to the academy for the last three-four days. At the same time, Jaideep said that ‘It is quite shocking. She was doing her exercises properly earlier. But after a few days, she started coming very rarely to the training session. I do not know what is the reason behind this.’ He also told that he was going to get married soon.
