New Delhi: South Korean automaker Kia has made a significant splash in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the introduction of the Kia EV9, its second electric model following the success of the Kia EV6. The EV9 has garnered acclaim, being named the most popular model among women at the Women’s World Car of the Year (WWCOTY) awards.

Global Debut and Indian Market Expectations
The Kia EV9 was initially presented as a concept at the Auto Expo in January of the previous year and has since been introduced to global markets. With its eyes set on expansion, Kia anticipates launching the EV9 in the Indian market later this year.

  • Platform: The EV9 is engineered on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
  • Range: It offers an impressive estimated range of 541 km on a single charge.
  • Power: Equipped with a 150 kW electric motor, the EV9 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant boasts a 160 kW motor, reducing the 0 to 100 km/h time to 8.2 seconds.
  • Charging: The vehicle’s 800-volt electrical system supports ultra-fast charging, claiming to add 239 km of range in just 15 minutes.

Interior Design and Features

  • Display: The interior features a state-of-the-art curved digital screen extending from the driver’s seat to the center console.
  • Seating: Available in both seven and six-seater configurations, it offers versatile second-row seating options, including 180-degree swivel seats.
  • Advanced Technology: The EV9 GT-Line is outfitted with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), facilitating hands-free driving on highways with its highway driving pilot feature, which corresponds to Level 3 autonomy.
