Washington: Former US President Donald Trump’s company and it’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Allen Weisselberg have been indicted by a New York jury in a tax crime. News agency Associated Press (AP) gave this information on Thursday morning quoting a person familiar with the matter. It has been said in the report that these cases are related to the alleged tax evasion in the profits given to the top executives of the company. This includes the cost of an apartment, car, and school tuition.

This case has come to light after a two-year investigation into Donald Trump’s business deals in New York. The jury was headed by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr., a Democrat who left office at the end of last year.

This is also the first criminal case to be registered against Trump’s company in the investigation. Prosecutors are scrutinizing the tax records, documents of the former president. During the investigation, several witnesses including Trump insiders and company officials have also been questioned.

However, the Associated Press tried to contact Weiselberg’s attorney, Mary Mulligan, and the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, but both declined to respond. The news agency also tried to reach spokespersons and lawyers of the Trump Organization but did not get revert.

On the other hand, Jason Miller, a longtime former senior adviser to Republicans, has called these allegations politically terrifying for Democrats.
