Tokyo: India’s dismal performance in the shooting event of the Tokyo Olympics continued with Manu Bhaker and Rahi Sarnobat missing out on the finals of the women’s 25m pistol event. Manu was ranked sixth yesterday after scoring 292 after the precision round but after the rapid round, she finished 15th on Friday with a total of 582.

His score in the rapid round was 290. At the same time, Rahi, who won the gold medal of the same event at the World Cup in Croatia just before the Olympics, scored 287 in precision and 286 in rapid, after which she finished 32nd with a total score of 573. Antoaneta Kostadinova of Bulgaria secured the first position with a score of 590.

Jiaruishuan of China came second with a score of 587 and Vitalina Bi of the Russian Olympic Committee came third with a score of 586. The top eight shooters qualified for the finals and eighth-ranked Korea’s Kim Minjung scored two more than Manu.

Of India’s 15-man shooting contingent, so far, only Saurabh Chaudhary (10m air pistol) could make it to the finals but finished seventh in the final after topping the qualification. Now only 50m rifle three positions event is left in which Anjum Mudgil and Tejaswini Sawant in women’s section while Sanjeev Rajput and Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar will present Indian challenge in men’s section.
