New Delhi: Indian golfer Aditi Ashok missed out on making history at the Tokyo Olympics. Aditi lost the medal in the last holes. America’s Nelly Korda has won gold. Aditi was running second till the 13th hole but in the last five holes, she fell behind Japan’s Mone Inami and New Zealand’s Lydia. In the fourth round, Aditi Ashok played the card of three under 68. Talking about the competition, Aditi finished fourth with a score of 15 under 269.

Aditi was born on 29 March 1988 in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Presently she is the best female golfer in India. Aditi started playing golf at the age of just 5. Aditi once went to a restaurant with father Ashok Gudlamani and mother Mash which was next to the golf course. She was attracted to the game after hearing the cheer from the golf course. After this Aditi started playing golf with her father Ashok and mother Mash.

Golf soon became an important part of Aditi’s life. She also got full support from the family. At the age of 9, this young golfer won her first tournament and at the age of 12, she became a part of the national team. Aditi Ladies is the first Indian to win the European Tour title. Aditi had achieved the distinction of being the youngest golfer as soon as she entered the Rio Olympics in 2016. In Rio, Aditi’s father played the role of a caddy while in Tokyo she was accompanied by her mother.

5 medals for India in Tokyo Olympics
India has won a total of 5 medals in the Tokyo Olympics so far. Now there is the hope of bronze from wrestler Bajrang Punia and gold from Neeraj Chopra. The first silver medal for India was won by weightlifter Mirabai Chanu on 24 August. After this, PV Sindhu and Lovlina Borgohain won a bronze medal each in badminton and boxing. After this, the men’s hockey team gave India the fourth medal of the Tokyo Games. Wrestler Ravi Dahiya has given India the second silver medal on Thursday (August 5).
