New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sentenced Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu to one-year rigorous imprisonment in a 34-year-old road rage case. At the time when the Supreme Court’s decision came, Navjot Singh Sidhu was participating in the protest against inflation by climbing an elephant. After the verdict, Navjot Singh Sidhu tweeted that he would hand himself over to the law. That is, will follow the law. That is, they will go to jail for the punishment given by the Supreme Court.

Earlier, the Supreme Court, while accepting the review petition of the victim’s family, today overturned the old verdict in which Navjot Singh Sidhu was acquitted, but was held guilty of intentionally causing hurt to the deceased. In this case, a 65-year-old man later died. The family members had alleged that the death was due to Sidhu being punched. The family had said that it was not just a case of beating or pushing. Rather it should be treated as a serious crime like murder.

In this case, on March 22, Navjot Singh Sidhu argued in the Supreme Court that there is no concrete evidence to show that a 65-year-old man was killed by a punch. But the Supreme Court accepted the arguments of the family members and sentenced them to one year.

What is the whole matter?
This case is from the year 1988. Sidhu was a hero on the cricket field in those days. This incident is on 27 December.
