New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday issued new guidelines for the Containment Zones in view of the Covid-19 transition. These guidelines issued for monitoring and precaution have given instructions to strictly follow all the rules in the restricted areas. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also directed the States and Union Territories to strictly follow all the rules. According to government rules, the exemption is given in containment zones only for necessary activities.

States and Union Territories have been instructed to maintain the decline in corona cases and take necessary steps to reduce the rate of infection. The new guidelines issued by the government will be applicable from December 1 to December 31. The new guidelines do not provide for any new restrictions or exemptions from the government. The ban on international air travel will continue for the time being.

Essentials of the new guidelines

  • The ban on international flights and cinema will continue. At the moment only fifty percent people will be allowed in the cinema hall. Only players will be allowed in the swimming pool.
  • Only people involved in the business will get an entry into the business/exhibition hall. Also, no more than 200 people will be allowed to participate in any public event.
  • Only necessary activities will be allowed in the containment zone. The district police and municipal administration will be responsible for enforcing the rules. The rules laid down will be strictly enforced in all the Union Territories.
  • According to the new guidelines, States and Union Territories can only impose local restrictions like night curfew on containment zones based on an assessment of the condition of Covid-19. States, UTs must seek permission from the Center before implementing any kind of local lockdown outside the containment zones.
  • States and Union Territories will be responsible for enforcing social distance in offices. In cities where the positivity rate is more than 10 percent, instructions have been given to vary the office hours and consider other measures so that social distance can be followed.
  • Instructions have also been given for door-to-door monitoring if required. Apart from this testing will be done only on the basis of fixed protocol.
  • A list of people who came in contact with the person found to be infected will be prepared and tracked, identified and quarantined for 14 days.
  • A person infected with Covid-19 will be isolated at home or in a medical facility at the earliest based on the prescribed rules.
  • Everywhere it is necessary to behave in a manner consistent with Covid, such as using a mask, social distance, hand washing.
  • There are no restrictions on moving within the state or from one state to another. In addition, the elderly, people with pre-existing disease, pregnant women, and children under the age of 10 are advised to stay at home.
