According to the legend, the story of Karva Chauth is related to the daughter of a Brahmin family named Vedasharma of Indraprastha city. Veeravati, the only sister among seven brothers, was married to a Brahmin named Sudarshan. Veeravati once observed the fast of Karva Chauth in her maternal home. She fainted as she was dehydrated all day. This condition was not seen from his brothers. He broke his fast before time by setting fire to the field. Since then, Veeravati’s husband started falling ill. He worshiped Indrani’s wife Indrani and sought a solution from her. He told about the breaking of the fast. He again advised to fast by law. Veeravati did the same. This made her husband well.
