IMD Issues Widespread Rain Alerts: Heavy Downpours Expected Across India

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Gujarat and Goa, predicting heavy rainfall in various parts of these states. Additionally, the northeastern states are expected to experience significant rainfall, with a ‘Red’ alert issued for Meghalaya today.

Maharashtra: From July 13 to July 15, heavy rains are forecasted for the Pune, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Satara districts. Consequently, an ‘Orange’ alert has been issued for these regions during this period.

Delhi: The national capital is expected to receive light rain today, accompanied by strong winds reaching speeds of 35 km/h. Light rain is anticipated to continue in Delhi until July 17.

Uttarakhand: The IMD has predicted heavy rains in Uttarakhand, prompting an ‘Orange’ alert. Residents are advised to avoid river and hilly areas due to the risk of landslides, which have already stranded tourists in various districts.

Central India: Heavy rains are also expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, with a possibility of lightning. Rain is forecasted in Uttar Pradesh until July 15, Himachal Pradesh until July 14, and Uttar Pradesh-Punjab until July 13. Rajasthan and North Haryana are likely to experience rain from July 13 to July 15.

Eastern India: Light rain is expected in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar until July 15. Odisha may see sporadic rains and cooler weather until July 14.

Goa: Some areas in Goa could receive between 115.6 to 204.4 mm of rain today, with heavy rainfall expected to continue until July 15.

Nationwide: Overall, the IMD has forecasted rain across the country until July 15, issuing red and orange alerts in several states. The department has also advised against trekking and camping in hilly areas due to the adverse weather conditions.
