For postponement of UPSC examination, SC sent notice to Center

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India and the UPSC on Thursday on a petition filed for postponement of the Civil Service Examination in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic and flood situation in the country. Issued notice to A bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjeev Khanna issued notices to the Center and UPSC after a brief hearing on the petition in this regard. The bench listed the matter for further hearing on 28 September.

The petitioners have requested to postpone the Civil Services Examination for two to three months so that by that time the situation of floods and incessant rains will improve and the Kovid-19 infection will also be reduced. This petition has been filed by Vasireddy Govardhan Sai Prakash and others.

UPSC examination

It states that Article 19 (1) (g) of the Constitution about the petitioners and others of their choice to choose their profession to serve the public according to the changed program by the Union Public Service Commission. Infringes on the fundamental right conferred.

This petition has been filed by 20 candidates against conducting the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination of UPSC on October 4. According to the petition, in the seven-hour offline examination, about six lakh candidates will participate in the examination centers in 72 cities of the country.

According to the petition, this examination to be held for recruitment in civil services is different from the academic examination and if it is postponed for some time, then it does not raise the question of delay in any kind of academic session.

The petition said that due to lack of examination center in the hometown of the candidates, many candidates are facing many inconceivable problems related to PG facility and safe health.
