First consignment of Sputnik-V vaccine arrived in India

New Delhi: India received its first consignment of Sputnik-V from Russia on Saturday, according to the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). CBIC said in a tweet that Hyderabad Customs expedited the process of clearance of consignments of the Covid-19 vaccine imported from Russia.

CBIC tweeted, “Hyderabad Customs facilitates early clearance of Sputnik V vaccine imported from Russia.” On this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in a tweet, “Hyderabad Customs, proper work on time.” This is the need of the hour. ” The government last month allowed the emergency use of imported vaccines to prevent the outbreak of Coronavirus infection and waived customs duties on their imports.

The government has also allowed the vaccination of citizens above 18 years of age from May 1. Russia approved the Coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V on 11 August 2020. This was followed by an agreement by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) in September to clinically test Sputnik V.

Dr. Reddy’s has already received permission for the controlled emergency use of the Russian vaccine. On Saturday, 4.01 lakh new cases of Covid 19 infection were reported in India, which is a record. With this, 3,523 people have also been reported dead from Corana.
