New Delhi: The much-anticipated inaugural visit to India by Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., the renowned electric vehicle (EV) giant, has been postponed. Musk confirmed the delay through a post on his social media platform ‘X’, citing pressing obligations at Tesla as the reason for the rescheduling. Originally slated for the 21st and 22nd of April, the visit was expected to mark a significant milestone in Tesla’s expansion into the Indian market.

However, Musk has reassured his followers and the Indian audience that he is eagerly looking forward to the visit, which is now expected to take place later in the year. “Unfortunately, the trip to India is being delayed due to Tesla obligations. But I am very much looking forward to the trip later this year,” Musk expressed in his post.

The postponement coincides with the announcement of Tesla’s quarterly results, scheduled for April 23. It is understood that this date was pre-established, leading to speculation that the India visit might have caused a delay in the release of these financial figures.

The anticipation surrounding Musk’s visit was not without merit, as it was rumored that he would announce a substantial investment in the range of 2 to 3 billion dollars, approximately up to Rs 25,000 crores. This investment was expected to include the establishment of a manufacturing unit in India, potentially accelerating the country’s EV ecosystem.

As of now, precise details regarding the rescheduled visit remain undisclosed. Nevertheless, the postponement has only heightened the sense of anticipation for what could be a transformative event for Tesla and the Indian automotive and tech sectors.
