New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified amendments in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules to promote Clean Fuel in rural India.

After this modification, diesel and petrol-powered agricultural tractors, power tillers, and construction equipment vehicles can be converted into CNG, bio-CNG, and LNG fuel engines. The Ministry tweeted, “The Ministry has notified an amendment in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 to replace engines of agricultural tractors, power tillers, construction equipment vehicles and harvesters with CNG, bio-CNG and LNG fuel.” ‘

Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari introduced India’s first tractor converted from the diesel engine to CNG in February this year and said that this will change the rural economy and create a large number of employment opportunities.
