Mumbai: After the controversy over the Delhi violence book ‘Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story’, its publisher Bloomsbury India withdrew from its publication. At the same time, producer-director Anurag Kashyap said that banning anything means the suppression of freedom of expression.

Without naming, he wrote on Twitter, “Banning a book, which I don’t agree with, it is like banning that book, which I agree with. Banning a film that offends me is like, banning a film that I made and which offends another. Banning anything is suppressing the freedom of expression. It doesn’t matter that there are lies in it.

In the second tweet, Kashyap said that democracy gives place to ideas and opposing views .. And the method of fight is disagreement and education and it will always be a struggle for truth. But banning or withdrawing in a healthy democracy is not the solution. This is what I want to say.

Bloomsbury India said in its statement, “In view of the most recent events, a virtual launch conducted by the authors before publication without bringing to our notice and inclusion of those which would not have been approved by the publishers, we returned the publication of the book. We have decided to take Bloomsbury India strongly supports the freedom to speak, but also have a deep sense of responsibility towards society. ”

Please tell that this book has been written by Monica Arora, Sonali Chitalkar and Prerna Malhotra. More than 50 people lost their lives in Delhi in February this year.
