‘Biparjoy’ moving from Rajasthan towards Uttarakhand, IMD issued a yellow alert

New Delhi: Cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which arose in the Arabian Sea, has moved towards Rajasthan after causing havoc in the Kutch-Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Due to this, heavy rains have occurred in many areas of the Jalore and Barmer districts of Rajasthan today. The IMD has issued a “red” alert for Jalore and Barmer and the areas may receive more than 200 mm of rainfall. Now in the recent update of IMD, it was told that along with Rajasthan, the hill state of Uttarakhand will also be affected by this storm. Cyclone Biporjoy is going to affect Uttarakhand from June 18. It is being told that this storm can have more impact in many districts of Kumaon, due to which there is a possibility of strong thunderstorms along with rain.

Alert for rain and thunderstorms till June 18
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms till June 18. According to this, on June 16, there is a possibility of gusty winds at a speed of 50 kmph in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, and Bageshwar. For this, the department has issued a yellow alert. Similar weather will be seen on June 17 as well.

Wind can blow at a speed of 80 kmph
While on June 18, there is a warning of hailstorms and gusty winds with a speed of 80 km per hour in all the districts of the state. The same alert will remain for June 19 as well. In the hill state of Uttarakhand, the administration has started preparations to deal with the threat of possible rains. Char Dham Yatra is also going on here at this time.

Here in Gujarat, the cyclonic storm has left a trail of devastation after landfall. It damaged 5,120 electric poles. 4,600 villages have been deprived of electricity. The NDRF Director General said that no one lost his life after the arrival of Biparjoy. However, 23 people were injured in different incidents.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which is wreaking havoc in the interior areas of Kutch in Gujarat, will turn into a deep depression even before entering Rajasthan late at night on June 16. Due to this, a period of heavy to very heavy rains will be seen in Rajasthan for two to three days and after June 20, it can be assumed that Biparjoy has left Rajasthan.

According to the Meteorological Department, along with entering Rajasthan, some areas of Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Sirohi, and Pali may receive heavy to very heavy rains late night or early morning of June 17. After that Birpajoy will move forward.

On June 18, it will also affect Ajmer and Jaipur divisions, where there may also be heavy to very heavy rains in some areas. The effect of Biparjoy will be visible on June 19 in some areas of the Jaipur division and on June 20 in Kota and Bharatpur divisions.
