Bharatpur: A sadhu named Baba Vijay Das, who was protesting against illegal mining in Pasopa village of Bharatpur, set himself on fire. He along with other sages and saints has been agitating against illegal mining for the last 551 days. Baba Vijay Das poured kerosene on himself and set himself on fire, chanting the slogan ‘Radhe-Radhe’.

Seeing the sadhu burning in the fire, the policemen ran after him and with the help of blankets managed to control the fire. Baba has been admitted to the Raj Bahadur Memorial Hospital in Bharatpur, where his condition is said to be critical. He has got about 80 percent burns. Now a video of this incident is going viral on social media.

Meanwhile, another saint named Baba Narayan Das, associated with this movement sat on the tower for 33 hours. From 6 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, he climbed the mobile tower and after much persuasion came back down on Wednesday afternoon. Baba Narayan Das is a resident of Barsana. In view of the agitation, Divisional Commissioner Sanvarmal Verma had shut down the internet in five cities of Bharatpur.

Let us tell you that the area of ​​​​Tehsil Deeg, the command of Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, comes in the 84 Kos Parikrama Marg, so the saints and saints are opposing it. There is a demand of saints and saints that both legal and illegal mining should be stopped here. They have been agitating for 551 days for this demand.

Baba Haribol, who is leading the agitating saints, had warned of self-immolation on Sunday, 17 July. He said- ‘The time of my death has now been fixed, which no one can change. No matter how many policemen are deployed by the administration, on July 19, I will die for the service and security of Brajbhoomi. Rajasthan government will be responsible for my death.

After this, a meeting of saints and saints was held with Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh on Monday. After the assurance of the minister, Baba said that the meeting is held daily, but no decision is taken. The sages and saints claim that Kankanchal and Adibadri mountain is a symbols of religious faith.

The Government of Rajasthan issued an order on 27 January 2005 that mining would not be done within a radius of 500 meters on either side of the Braj Chaurasi Kos Parikrama Marg. An announcement was made to ban mining within 500 meters of Parikrama Marg and religious places falling in Deeg of Kaman Tehsil of Bharatpur district.

No mining is taking place in this area, but mining continues outside 500 meters from the Parikrama Marg. Sage saints allege that illegal mining is not stopping. Demanding to stop mining in the Braj region, a delegation led by former Leader of Opposition of UP Pradeep Mathur met Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in April 2021. The CM had said – mining will be stopped in the city and hill tehsil. Kankanchal and Adibadri hills will be protected.
