New Delhi: A scuffle broke out on late Wednesday night between the wrestlers and the Delhi Police sitting on a dharna at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, president of the Wrestling Federation of India. The wrestlers alleged that due to the incessant rains, they had asked for folding beds to sleep in. But, the police stopped it before reaching the protest site. After this, there was a scuffle between the wrestlers and the police. Vinesh Phogat was hurt by this and started crying at the midnight press conference. He said that we brought medals for the country and we are being treated like criminals.

Vinesh Phogat made serious allegations against the Delhi Police. He said, “Our mattresses got wet due to the rain. That’s why folding beds were ordered. We don’t even have a place to sleep. But, when we started bringing the folding bed, the Delhi Police officer pushed us away. We are fighting for our honor. Will you drop so much respect? If you have to kill, then kill like this. Did we bring medals for this day? If this is to be the case, then we would like that no player should bring a medal after winning it.

Bajrang also accused the police of assault
At the same time, wrestler Bajrang Punia has also accused the Delhi Police of abusing and assaulting him. Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat’s brother got a head injury in the clash between police and wrestlers. Apart from this, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Somnath Bharti, who arrived with a bed, was taken into custody. However, he was later released.

That’s why it was forbidden to bring the bed inside. On this, the supporters of the wrestlers came to the barricade and started trying to forcefully take the beds inside.
