Mumbai: The identity of the “mysterious Himalayan Yogi” under whose influence Chitra Ramakrishna, former head of the National Stock Exchange, has been exposed. If CBI sources are to be believed, Chitra Ramakrishna’s favorite is none other than the mysterious yogi Anand Subramaniam, the former Group Operating Officer of NSE arrested in the case of stock market manipulation.

CBI arrested Anand Subramaniam from Chennai late on Thursday night in connection with the disturbances in the National Stock Exchange a few years ago. After this, the CBI raided the residence of Anand Subramaniam in Chennai on Friday morning. CBI sources say that Anand Subramaniam used to influence the decisions of former NSE chief Chitra Ramakrishna by pretending to be a “Himalayan Yogi”. Anand used to talk to Chitra through the mail.

SEBI raised questions on Anand’s appointment and promotion in its report
The Securities and Exchange Board of India has said in a report that the controversial promotion of Anand Subramaniam to the post of former Group Operating Officer of NSE was one of the decisions that Chitra Ramakrishna took under the influence of the so-called Yogi. The CBI says that Anand Subramaniam’s “mysterious Himalayan yogi” has been exposed through an email ID. The central probe agency said that it has sufficient evidence that Anand Subramaniam had created the mail id rigyajursama@outlook.com through which he used to communicate with Chitra Ramakrishna.

CBI has evidence of Anand Subramaniam being the alleged ‘Himalayan Yogi’
CBI sources said that Chitra Ramakrishna shared confidential information related to NSE between 2013 and 2016 from his mail id rchitra@icloud.com to rigyajursama@outlook.com. Some of these emails were reportedly also marked on another mail id of Anand Subramaniam. CBI sources said that the screenshots of these emails have been recovered from the mail id of Anand Subramaniam. The CBI had questioned Anand Subramaniam for four days last week in this case.

CBI sources said, “Anand Subramaniam did not cooperate in the interrogation then, he answered the questions evasively. After which he was arrested from Chennai late on Thursday night. Anand Subramaniam was first appointed as Chief Strategic Advisor at NSE in 2013 and then promoted to Group Operations Officer in 2015 by Chitra Ramakrishna. In 2016, he left NSE on allegations of irregularities.

Chitra Ramakrishna shared confidential information with “Himalayan Yogi”
Former NSE chief Chitra Ramakrishna is under investigation for allegedly sharing confidential information with a “Himalayan Yogi”. His colleague was the mysterious yogi, now this thing has come to the fore. Anand Subramaniam’s appointment to the post of Chief Strategic Advisor at NSE and “repeated, arbitrary and disproportionate” hikes in his salary without any evidence of performance appraisal were part of a Sebi report in the stock market manipulation case. In its report, SEBI has accused Chitra Ramakrishna and others of violating rules in the appointment and promotion of Anand Subramaniam.

The dependence of Chitra Ramakrishna Vichitra on an invisible yogi in taking decisions related to NSE was part of the SEBI report. SEBI noted on the basis of the email that Chitra met Ramakrishna Anand Subramaniam “several times in 2015”. He headed the stock exchange from 2013 to 2016. Chitra Ramakrishna told SEBI during interrogation that the email through which he had corresponded was conducted by a “Siddha man/yogi, who probably lived largely in the Himalayan ranges”. She had told SEBI, “I have met him many times at holy places.” But the information about the place and time was not given.

What did Chitra Ramakrishna tell SEBI during interrogation?
When SEBI asked Chitra Ramakrishna how a yogi living in the Himalayas could access emails and do regular correspondence? In response to this question, she said, “As per my knowledge, he does not need any such material thing for his spiritual powers.” Describing him as a “spiritual force”, Chitra Ramakrishna told SEBI, “I met him face-to-face for the first time on the banks of the Ganges about 20 years ago.”

The former NSE chief further told SEBI in his interrogation, “I have received his guidance on many personal and business matters over the years. Since he would appear of his own accord and I had no other way to meet him, I asked him to find a way so that I could seek his guidance whenever I felt the need. He gave me an email id on my request on which I could send my requests to him.”
