Washington: America’s top infectious disease expert says the government is sticking to the recommendation for citizens to take a ‘booster dose eight months after their Covid-19 vaccination, but that policy may change as the data emerges.

Dr. Anthony Fauci said he had no doubt that given the highly contagious delta form of the virus, people would need an additional dose after receiving two doses of either Pfizer or Moderna vaccines. President Joe Biden said on Friday that his administration was considering whether to give a booster dose five months after vaccination.

He said the Israeli prime minister had given him this advice, but on Sunday, Fauci said the US would continue the policy of giving a booster dose after eight months and would change it as new figures come out.
