Peshawar: Eleven terrorists, including two suicide bombers, were killed by security forces during a search operation in Pakistan’s northwest. This information was given in a statement by ‘Inter-Services Public Relations’ (ISPR). According to the statement, Commander Hafizullah Toure alias Toure Hafiz was also killed in the operation carried out in Wana district headquarters of South Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces “successfully foiled a high-profile terrorist act” during the operation. He told that the security forces have seized a huge amount of arms and ammunition from the terrorists. The ISPR said, “The slain terrorists were actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and targeted killing of police in South Waziristan district.”
In the last few months, the law and order situation in the country has deteriorated. Terrorist groups such as the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the Islamic State group and the Gul Bahadur group have carried out almost as many terrorist attacks across the country. The TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year and ordered its militants to carry out attacks across the country.
At the same time, insurgents in Balochistan have also intensified their violent activities and have formalized their nexus with TTP. On December 31, a Pakistani Army soldier was killed in an IBO in the general area of Jani Khel in Bannu, in which four terrorists were also killed. The ISPR said the terrorists were “actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and killing of innocent civilians”.
