New Delhi: India has got the second gold medal in the IBA World Women’s Boxing Championship being played in Delhi. Sweety Bora won the gold medal in the 81 kg weight category by defeating China’s Wang Lina. Sweety won the match by a split decision of 4-3. Sweety dominated the Chinese boxer in the first round itself. He put strong punches in the face of the Chinese boxer in the first round itself and won the first round 3-2.
In the second round too, Sweety Bora started off cautiously. She first took a defensive stand against China’s boxer Wang Lina. During this, he also suffered a straight jab. But, still did not lose courage and scored points against the Chinese player through hook, and uppercut and won the second round by a margin of 3-2.
In the final round, the Chinese boxer attacked from the beginning and dropped Sweety twice. The referee had also warned him about this. But, Sweety had saved her strength for the last moment and showered punches even before the hooter rang, and the Chinese boxer could not handle her uppercuts and jabs.
9 years ago, Sweety had to be satisfied with the silver medal in the World Championship. Now by winning the gold, he has overcome this difficulty. This time, 30-year-old Sweety put all her efforts to win the gold medal and did not allow 2018 world champion Wang Lina to dominate her. In the final of the World Championship played in South Korea in 2014, Sweety Bora had to face defeat by China’s Yang Xiaoli and now she has won the gold medal by defeating China’s boxer.
