New Delhi: As the monsoon intensifies across central and western India, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts spanning more than 15 states, warning of “extremely heavy rainfall” and storm hazards on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Delhi-NCR: Humid, Cloudy, But Still Waiting for Rain
- Delhi-NCR residents can expect only “very light to light rain with cloudy skies” today, according to IMD. No warning or alert has been issued, and temperatures are ranging between 35°C and 38°C, punctuated by high humidity and occasional drizzles.
- The city has yet to feel the full impact of this year’s monsoon, in stark contrast to record rainfall being witnessed elsewhere.
Rajasthan, MP, Gujarat Face Extreme Rainfall
- Red alerts the highest IMD warning for East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat highlight the risk of “extremely heavy rainfall” that could lead to flash floods, widespread waterlogging, and traffic disruption. South-eastern and eastern Rajasthan are most at risk, along with major districts in Gujarat such as Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, which are already seeing intense rain, thunderstorms, and winds up to 40km/h.
- Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in these states through July 28, with forecasts extending wet weather well into the week.
Warnings for Central, Eastern & Southern States
