Karachi: Asian Under-21 tournament silver medalist Majid Ali, one of Pakistan’s top snooker players, committed suicide on Thursday at his hometown Samundri near Faisalabad in Punjab. Committed suicide He was 28 years old. According to the police, Majeed was reportedly suffering from depression since his playing days. He committed suicide with a wood-cutter.
Majid had represented Pakistan in several international events and was a top-level player in the national circuit. He is the second snooker player in the country to lose his life in the last one month. Last month, international snooker player, Muhammad Bilal died of heart failure. Majeed’s brother Umar said that he had been suffering from depression since he was a teenager and had recently suffered another bout of depression.
Omar said, “It is a terrible thing for us because we never thought that he would commit suicide.” Alamgir Sheikh, chairman of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker, said the entire community was saddened by Majid’s death. He said, “There was no dearth of talent in him. He was a young man full of energy. We had high hopes for him to bring laurels to Pakistan.” Sheikh said that there was no financial problem with Majeed.
