New Delhi: The ODI series between Pakistan and West Indies (PAK vs WI ODI Series) has been postponed. Due to the increasing cases of Covid-19, the officials of the Cricket Board of Pakistan and West Indies had to take this decision. Officials of both the cricket boards met on Thursday in which it was decided that this ODI series will now be rescheduled for June-2022. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was successful in convincing the West Indies to play the third and final T20 International on Thursday despite several positive cases of Covid-19 being found, the three-match ODI series between the two teams will be followed. will not be played.
West Indies brought a 21-man team for this T20 and ODI tour but only 14 players were available for the final T20 match. 6 West Indies players and 3 members of the support staff have tested positive for Kovid-19 while one player, Devon Thomas, is out due to a finger injury in the first T20 match.
Confirming the decision to postpone the ODI series, Cricket West Indies and the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a joint statement, “On Thursday morning, the PCB conducted a rapid antigen test of the remaining 15 West Indies players and 6 support staff members as per the Covid-19 protocol.” Test reports of all 21 came negative. However, keeping in mind the good of both teams and limited resources from West Indies for the ODI series, it has been agreed that it should be postponed and rescheduled for the start of June-2022.
