New form of coronavirus knocked in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, six people found infected with ‘AY.4’

Indore: The knock of the “AY.4” form of coronavirus has been confirmed in the Indore district of Madhya Pradesh and six people have been found infected with this new type of virus. An official of the Health Department gave this information on Monday. Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) BS Saitya said, “In the investigation report of Delhi’s National Center for Disease Control (NCDC), six people of Indore district have been told to be infected with AY.4 form of coronavirus. The samples of these people along with the samples of other infected people were sent to NCDC in September for genome sequencing.

He said that this is the first time in the history of 19 months of the epidemic in Indore when the “AY.4” form of coronavirus has been found among the infected. Saitya, said that all the six people found infected with this form of coronavirus have recovered after treatment and had already taken both doses of the anti-epidemic vaccine.

The CMHO said that more than 50 people who came in contact with these people in the past have been investigated and they have also been found healthy. Meanwhile, Dr. Anita Mutha, Chairperson, Department of Microbiology, Government Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore, said that the “AY.4” form of the coronavirus is new and the level of its infectivity is not yet known.

According to government data, a total of 1,53,202 patients of Covid-19 have been found so far in the Indore district with a population of about 35 lakhs. Of these, 1,391 people have died during treatment. Significantly, Indore has been the most affected by Covid-19 in the state at one time. However, in the midst of increasing vaccination, few new cases of the epidemic are being reported in the district these days.
