New Delhi: The 64th match of IPL 2025 saw a thrilling contest as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clinched a convincing 33-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in a high-scoring encounter. The night belonged to Mitchell Marsh, whose explosive century set the tone for LSG’s triumph.

Marsh and Pooran Power LSG to Mammoth Total

After losing the toss and being put in to bat by GT captain Shubman Gill, LSG’s openers made the most of the batting-friendly conditions. Mitchell Marsh was in devastating form, smashing 117 runs off just 64 balls at a blistering strike rate of 180. His innings was laced with powerful shots all around the ground, putting the GT bowlers under immense pressure.

Marsh found an able partner in Nicholas Pooran, who hammered a quick 56 from just 27 balls, accelerating the scoring rate further. Aiden Markram (36 off 18) and captain Rishabh Pant (16 off 9) also chipped in, helping LSG post a daunting total of 235/4 in their 20 overs.

Gujarat Titans’ Bowling Falters Under Pressure

Gujarat’s bowling attack had a forgettable outing. Star spinner Rashid Khan was particularly expensive, leaking 36 runs in just 2 overs at an economy of 18. Arshad Khan also gave away 36 runs in his 3 overs, while Mohammad Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Prasidh Krishna struggled to contain the flow of runs. Only Arshad Khan and Sai Kishore managed to pick up a wicket each, but their breakthroughs came too late to make a difference.

GT’s Top Order Collapses Despite Late Fightback

Chasing a mammoth 236, Gujarat Titans needed a strong start, but their top order faltered. Shubman Gill (35), Sai Sudarshan (21), and Jos Buttler (33) all got starts but failed to convert them into big scores. William O’Rooke, Avesh Khan, and Akash Maharaj Singh struck at regular intervals to keep GT on the back foot.

Shahrukh Khan tried to revive the chase with a spirited 57 off 33 balls, supported by Sherfane Rutherford’s 38 from 22 deliveries. However, the required run rate kept climbing, and the Titans ultimately finished at 202/8 in their 20 overs.

LSG Bowlers Seal the Deal

William O’Rooke was the pick of the bowlers for LSG, claiming 3 crucial wickets. Avesh Khan and Ayush Badoni chipped in with two wickets each, while Akash Maharaj Singh and Shahbaz Ahmed took one apiece, ensuring GT never really threatened the target.

With this win, Lucknow Super Giants strengthen their position in the IPL 2025 points table, while Gujarat Titans will need to regroup quickly as the league phase nears its climax.
