New Delhi: Organ donation is not allowed to the underage i.e. minors in the country. In such a situation, a 17-year-old minor boy from Uttar Pradesh had applied to the Supreme Court to donate his organ to his father, but his ailing father died before the Supreme Court could hear it.

Actually, this 17-year-old minor wanted to donate his age liver to his seriously ill father, but living minors are not allowed to donate organs in the country. According to the information, the young man’s mother also wanted to donate the liver to his father, but he was not fit according to the medical examination. So she could not donate her organs.

To save his father, the minor youth applied for a liver donation from the Supreme Court. The minor youth had said in his petition that his father’s condition was very serious and at this time he needed an immediate liver transplant. I want to give my liver to my father. To which the court had said that to see whether the minor can donate his liver or not, his preliminary examination should be done at the hospital concerned. Before any decision could be taken on this matter, the father of the young man died.

The debate has now started regarding organ donation of minors and whether living minors should be allowed to donate organs or not because according to the law, no minor can donate his organ before death. So at the same time, doctors say that instead of allowing organ donation to minors, organ donation should be made mandatory after death.
