Amaravati: Six people were killed in a train accident in Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam district after they were hit by the Konark Express late on Monday night. police gave this information. Police said some passengers of a Guwahati-bound Superfast Express had alighted on the railway track when the train came to a halt due to a technical problem at Batuva village.
He said six people were hit by the Konark Express coming from the opposite direction. Srikakulam Superintendent of Police GR Radhika said over the phone, “So far we have identified six bodies. The Government Railway Police is reaching the spot to find out if there were any other casualties.”
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed grief over the incident. He directed the district officials to start relief work and provide proper medical facilities to the injured. Giving information on the whole matter, the Srikakulam District Information Department said that the incident took place at around 9 pm between G Sigdam and Chipurapalli railway stations.
