Seoul: At least 59 people were killed and 150 were injured in a stampede during a Halloween party on Saturday at a major market in the South Korean capital, Seoul. Given this information in the local media report, it was told that dozen people got heart attacks due to this stampede.

Officials said it is believed that a crowd of people on their way to the Hamilton Hotel, the main party spot in Seoul, entered a narrow street and during the stampede, people were killed.

Police officials said dozens of people were being given CPR on the streets of Itaewon, while many others were taken to nearby hospitals. The official did not specify how many of these people suffered heart attacks but said there were dozens of such people.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol ordered a disaster response team to be sent to Itaewon in Yongsan-gu district immediately after receiving the news of the accident. He issued a statement asking officials to ensure the speedy treatment of the injured and review the security of the festival venues.

According to the report of The Korea Herald, it is estimated that a crowd of about one lakh people gathered in the very narrow streets of Itawon, the central district of the megacity, on Saturday night. Meanwhile, just before midnight (local time), there was a stampede near a hotel, in which dozens of people fainted.
