Iran calls US aircraft harassing its planes in Syria ‘illegal’

Tehran: Iranian officials criticized American fighter jets for harassing one of their passenger aircraft in Syrian airspace as “illegal” and threatened Washington over the incident. Iran had previously said that one of its aircraft going from Tehran to Beirut on Thursday was harassed by American fighter jets, although the aircraft later landed safely in Lebanon.

US officials have confirmed that a US fighter plane came in the way of an Iranian passenger plane, but it left a safe distance. According to Iran’s official TV, two American fighter jets came within 100 meters of the Iranian Airbus A310.
