Beijing: There has been a situation of disagreement and conflict between China and America for a long time on many issues. In such a situation, the two-day visit of US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken to China is considered very important. Monday is the second and last day of Blinken’s visit, which is said to be very important for talks on diplomatic policies etc. High-level talks took place between the different counterparts of the two countries. Efforts are being made to resolve the issues on which there is a dispute between the two countries.

According to the news agency AFP, Beijing’s top diplomat told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday that it was the last day of his trip aimed at improving seriously strained relations. China and the United States must choose between ‘cooperation or conflict’.

According to a State Department official, Blinken and Wang Yi, China’s top foreign policy official, held talks for three hours on Monday at the ornate state guesthouse in the ancient Diaoyutai Garden.

Neither Washington nor Beijing has confirmed the meeting between Blinken and Xi Jinping, China’s most powerful leader in decades. US President Joe Biden met in Bali in November, raising cautious hopes of a softening of ties. But American diplomats are looking forward to a meeting with Xi.

According to a readout by Chinese state broadcaster CCTV, Wang told Blinken that Beijing’s foreign minister’s visit this time marks a turning point in Sino-US relations. He said that it is necessary to choose between dialogue and confrontation, cooperation or conflict.

Wang said that we should reverse the downward spiral of Sino-US relations. At the same time, there should be emphasis and work together to return to a healthy and stable track. Only through such efforts can China and the United States work together.

He also issued a warning on Taiwan, a self-governing democracy claimed by Beijing. In the past year, China has twice launched live-fire military drills near the island, prompting action from top US lawmakers.

According to CCTV, Wang told Blinken that China has no room for compromise or acceptance on this issue. The United States in fact affirmed in three joint US-China communique that it should adhere to the one-China principle, respect China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and categorically oppose ‘Taiwan independence’, including Is.
