The Drugs Controller General of India has approved the single-dose Sputnik Light COVID-19 vaccine for use. After the approval of the Sputnik Light Single Dose vaccine by DGCI, now the number of vaccines approved for use in India has reached nine.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed by tweeting on Sunday that DGCI has approved the Sputnik Light Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use in India. He told that this is the ninth Covid 19 vaccine in the country and this will further strengthen the ongoing fight against the epidemic.

Let us tell you that two days ago, the subject expert of Drugs Controller General of India had recommended a single-dose vaccine for use in the country two days ago. The most important thing about this vaccine is that after applying one dose of it, another dose will not be required. Till now all the vaccines used in the country were double dose.

Let us inform you that before the Sputnik Lite single-dose vaccine, Covishield, Covaxin, Covovax as well as Cobavax, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and G-Cov-D vaccine have been approved in the country but so far only Covaccine, Covishield, and only Sputnik V was being used.

According to a report, more than 90 percent of the people in the country have been put on Covishield so far, followed by Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin at number two, while Russia’s Sputnik V is at number three. According to the Covin platform, till January 19, a total of 137 crores.21 people have been given the dose of Kovishield.
